Maritime trade accounts for almost 80% of world trade and continues to expand. Emissions from global shipping are expected to increase by up to 250% by 2050, depending on economic growth and global energy demand. Sustainability and resilience-motivated initiatives span a broad range of issues and include safety, security, labour conditions, marine and air pollution, GHG emissions, as well as mitigating climate change.
